WordPress Expert, Technical Optimizer, Server Administrator – Upwork

We are looking for a US-based developer who is a WordPress expert with deep experience in server administration and website technical optimization. We already have a team of offshore developers who have worked well with us over the years. However, as our portfolio has expanded, we're facing more urgent requests from clients that demand a higher level of technical acumen.  We're also outgrowing our server configuration and deployment procedures and need help migrating to a higher performance system.

We are looking to hire you for a few hours a week and we expect the position will grow in hours as you prove your value. We don't expect you to be able to do everything at once, especially on a part-time basis, but we do expect you to be a highly efficient operator who works well in fire drills AND planned projects. While we have them, we're eager to hire someone who is hell bent on preventing fire drills from happening in the first place by recommending and implementing a proper fall-back/fall-forward system (see item 4 below).

Some of our specific needs include:

1) Reviewing and analyzing existing website configurations across our portfolio; we expect you to offer recommendations, rationalize them, and implement.

2) Perform website page-speed and technical SEO optimizations (achieving higher GTMetrix and SEMRUSH project audit scores) on more complex sites that our offshore team is struggling to manage.

3) Be our fire-fighter when needed during US business hours: troubleshoot and fix websites that break due to plugin updates, clients touching things they shouldn't be, and general "hey, stuff breaks" situations.

4) Design a much better performing back up and restore protocol that fits the vast majority of our WordPress website portfolio. We're open to different tools to do this and eager for help from someone to set it up. We're currently utilizing ManageWP and the backup/restore routines rarely work correctly when we need them most. This might be because we have not configured the site to work properly with ManageWP or because ManageWP does not fit our needs. Up to you to help us figure it out.

5) Skilled in working with 3rd party APIs and integrations like MailChimp, Hubspot, Salesforce, Zoho, etc. to achieve one-way and two-way data flows between various applications.

We look forward to sharing more about our needs with qualified candidates!
