RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The majority of of work falls into one of three categories:
Audits are intended to be delivered to clients or development teams with minimal additional support, which requires that they be detailed yet clear and easy to understand. Clients often continue to engage us after audits are delivered or for portions of implementation, consulting, or recurring audits.
Audits involve research of all aspects of On/Off-site factors, as well as keyword and competitor research. Although customized to meet client needs, audits typically include the following steps, as well potential "outside the box" opportunities and suggestions.
1.1 General Domain Health
A review to ensure proper indexing of domains, sub-domains, redirects of previous domains, blocked pages, etc.
1.2 Keyword Research
Keyword research begins from input from client, and occasionally research from prior SEO/PPC efforts. Goal of keyword research include:
– Identify short and long-term opportunities, based on keyword volumes, current rankings, existing or potential website content and level of competition
– Identify top competing sites for further competitor research
1.3 On-site Technical Audit
The technical audit is used to identify any problematic issues or areas for potential improvement. It includes, but is not limited to, review and recommended methods for improvements/solutions in the following areas.
– Best Practices (title/meta tags, broken links, redirects, page errors, etc)
– Information Architecture, navigation, content
– Internal linking & content
– Any additional issues, especially where "easy wins" or specific recommendations are possible
1.4 Off-site Audit
Analyze client and competitor Link Profiles, in order to:
– Identify most beneficial existing client links (for potential replication)
– Identify effective competitor links and content strategies
– Identify opportunities for "quick wins", for example:
— reclamation of links lost due to changed URL's
— client-owned properties that could be linked differently
— external 'mentions' that could/should provide links
– Any additional issues, areas for concern or improvement
1.5 Specific Client Requests or Questions, such as:
– "What should we blog about?"
– "How can we improve our usability/conversion rates?"
– "Are there specific pages or traffic source that perform poorly?"
– "Are there geographical areas should we target with ads?"
1.6 Recommended Priorities and/or Suggested Timeline for Implementation
Implement recommendations presented in the audit. The level of implementation varies by project. Some projects require full implementation, while others allow recommendations to be implemented by client.
On-site implementation is limited to WordPress sites. Developers are available for work that requires technical knowledge.
Implement off-site recommendations when possible.
For select clients, manage on-site/off-site campaigns on a recurring monthly or quarterly basis:
Perform periodic on-site audits
Implement changes when possible, or prepare instructions for developers when needed
Research and identify new linking and keyword opportunities
Acquire back-links directly, or prepare recommendations for clients when needed
Provide report of links acquired
